CS And Engineering Organizations For Girls

Did you know that only around 21% of degrees related to engineering go to women? This percentage is even lower for computer science degrees. The gender gap in technology has historically been a major issue, with many fields related to computer science and engineering being male-dominated both in the past and the present. However, there are many organizations that provide coding and engineering resources to combat this inequality! Here are some CS and engineering organizations for girls to learn more about technology and help them go into computer science and engineering-related fields.

Girls Who Code is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a passion for coding in girls. They have served 300,00 girls, with many being from historically underrepresented groups. They have a variety of coding worksheets and activities available on their website. Additionally, during the summer, they host a 2-week virtual and a 6-week asynchronous coding camp for girls. Girls can become further involved in the organization by participating in their contests, attending one of their various virtual and in-person events throughout the year, starting a Girls Who Code club at their school, or by reading one of their books! Their summer camp applications are currently open!
